Our
Spinet Soundboard Mute Stop is operated by a nameboard-projected
lever. With the Mute Stop engaged in the 'On' position, it greatly
reduces the bridge capacity to transfer string vibrations through
to its soundboard, thus giving a totally new and unique sound.

This Mute Stop can be used independently or in combination with
the common Buff Stop. With both the Buff Stop and the Mute Stop
engaged in their 'On' positions, an even more muted and buffed tone
is produced. Alternatively, with the Buff Stop disengaged and the
Mute Stop in 'On' position there is a softening in the tonal sound.
The Spinet Soundboard Mute Stop is therefore allowing you to enjoy
two additional variations in tonal quality. Your Spinet with its
one set of 8' strings, a Buff Stop and a Soundboard Mute Stop will
now offer you four completely independent and different musical
sounds. The Hugh Craig Soundboard Mute Stop can only be installed
during the construction of your spinet.
